The past few months have been dominated by new surrounding the up and comer in the smartphone market, Apple. Yes, though its name need not be mentioned, I imagine our hits go up exponentially when I supplant the word into an article. iPhone. There, I said it. Alright, so it’s over with. Besides, its finally time to talk a little bit about that tried and tested smartphone line, a little something I like to call BlackBerry. Now, you RIM aficionados will be well aware that something bold this way comes. Now, word has trickled down that a definitive release date has been locked, as well as the first carrier to launch the latest from the Kitchener-Waterloo based Research In Motion. Ready for this? On August 21st the Bold hits store shelves in Rogers stores across Canada. As in, this Thursday!
For those of you unfamiliar with the BlackBerry Bold, here’s the skinny; the Bold is RIM’s most advanced smartphone yet, boasting support for high speed HSDPA cellular networks, not to mention Wi-Fi and GPS, as well as a slew of multimedia options that combine to make the Bold one robust entertainment center on the go. In terms of how much of your paycheque you’re going to have to fork over, RIM founder and co-CEO Jim Balsillie has stated that the Bold will retail between $300 and $400. In the States, AT&T will be the lead carrier.
As for when the rest of the world get a chance to get Bold, it turns out that Rogers isn’t getting much of a headstart, as the worldwide release is slated for the end of this week. Nice try, Ted…

It sounds great, but at that price it will be a while before I could afford one.
Sounds really nice, but hate to say it I have a hard time working the cell phone I having all this would not help me. My kids laugh at me now. I could see them if I had one of these.
