Nintendo is missing the point that Apple learned years ago that, one would have thought they’d already learned with their Nintendo DS handheld gaming system. People like colors. Apple put out their iPod Minis and Shuffles in a host of different colors. Likewise, Nintendo put out their Nintendo DS handheld gaming system in several different colors and even a color-combination or two.Yet, with their Wii gaming console, they released it in white and it has yet to see another color in all this time. This is a real shame, since back, before the thing was even released (was that even this century?) there had been a few product pictures released that made it looked like multi-colored would be the direction Nintendo would go in. Red, blue and of course, black all looked pretty damn sexy in the shape of the Wii.Sadly, those colors have yet to come from Ninty, but that’s not to say there is no hope for you if you like your gaming to have a little more color. The easiest solution is to skin your Wii (wow, that sounds painful!) which is easy and not too expensive. There are a few online retailers that sell stickers you can apply to the case of your Wii. Prices average around $15US but it’s extra if you want to include your controllers in the fun.DecalGirl.com, in particular, has another solution available–replacement cases. Their gorgeous, Chrome-like replacement case (pictured above) gives your Wii that uber-cool liquid-metal look. Now, this kind of solution is a bit more high-maintenance than just slapping a sticker on your existing Wii. What this really entails is carefully removing the innards of your Wii and mounting them inside the chrome-like case. It’s a fairly simple process, but not for the very faint of heart. So, if you’re feeling adventurous, Decal Girl has the “” for $38US.If you’re looking for something that’s even less high-maintenance than skins, or replacing your entire case, NintendoWiiFanboy.com has reported on colored wrist straps for the Wiimote. They come in green, blue, pink and boring, old white. For now, though, they’re available only in Japan for a not-to-unreasonable $2.80 a pop.See that? Even if you’re feeling a little color-free with your Wii, there is hope for you, yet!

I thought when this first came out that they were going to have different colors. I am surprised that they don’t. I know I would buy one that was of another color. I am not fond of the white.
I’m not fond of white either but it doesn’t bother me enough to want to pay to change the colour.
