Gyroxus Full-Motion Gaming Chair–’Nuff Said!

For just $480US (or $80 a month for 6 months) you can take gaming way too far with the Gyroxus Full-Motion Game Chair. For most gamers, dropping several hundred dollars on a gaming console system (and additional money on games) is just fine with them. Hardcore PC Gamers take things a little further by spending a grand or two on PCs specifically designed for gaming. Some of the above might even spend $100 on a dedicated gaming chair with built in speakers.

But that’s not enough for the people at Gyroxus.com. They hope that at least a few gamers will take it way further than that.

The Gyroxus FMGC (Full-Motion Gaming Chair) is a gaming chair of epic proportions. To be perfectly honest, it seems like a really cool way to play video games. You actually use your weight to control what happens on-screen. As in, you lean to the right, your fighter aircraft banks to the right. Lean left and your car veers to the left, depending on your individual game, of course. Think of it as a Segway for gamers (only much less expensive)–it’s not entirely practical, but boy is it fun to use.

The official site calls it a “full motion game experience” and says that it allows you to “feel the movement” and to “put yourself in the game.” Though again, in all honesty, this thing is just a huge game controller and it’s priced the way you’d expect. Oh and by the way, that $480 price tag is the “Introductory Instant Discount” price. The regular list price is an even more extreme $580.

Apparently, the Gyroxus is easy to set up, tough enough to support gamers that weigh up to 250 pounds, and it requires no tools or drivers. It’s compatible with Windows PCs, the XBox 360, and Playstations 2 and 3. The site also mentions compatibility with “Nintendo” on their site, but fails to mention which Nintendo it’ll actually work with. Odds are this thing won’t connect to a DS and it would be odd if it only connected with the Gamecube since there are all of about three people who still use that system. However, if it works with the Wii, why not be specific?

Regardless, if you’re an over-the-top, hardest-of-hardcore gamer, what are you waiting for? The URL is Gyroxus.com. Go!
