Keep Your Secret Diary Secret in the Secret Diary USB Stick

So, you’re a teenage girl (or you know one) and you want to keep your (or her) secrets safe from prying eyes (like those of your annoying little brother).

Seems like a simple enough concept and Take’s Secret Diary USB stick just might be exactly what you (or she) is looking for.

To be more accurate, Take not only has a USB stick available, but also a software suite that allows you to record your inner most thoughts in text and pictures.

To start with, the Secret Diary USB stick, itself, an 8-button keypad that you use to enter in your “personalized PIN-code”. According to the official product page, this allows the stick to be secure. The site also claims that the device comes with “Hack-proof, ultimate encryption software.”

Uh-huh. Sounds good, but how many times have we all heard that claim before? In fact, it’s painfully obvious that no electronic device is totally “hack-proof.” Still, when it comes to keeping a diary safe, this type of encryption is probably more than what is probably necessary–unless you’ve got a particularly annoying little brother.

A feature that’s actually on the impressive side, is the “traceless” data entry–apparently, the secret diary leaves no tracks on the PC it’s used on. That’s kind of cool, actually. Some apps that claim to be portable (read: runable from a USB stick or memory card) actually do leave traces on the machines they’re used on. This assumes the website’s claim is accurate.

The only real problem with Take’s Secret Diary is that it is puple-colored and is kind of eye-catching. If it were truly a “secret” diary, shouldn’t it look more like a hairbrush or something a bit more nondescript that a purple USB stick with buttons on it?

That aside, the software suite that you write your diary in is fairly customizable. It allows you to choose colors, backgrounds and even fonts to give your secret diary the kind of look you like. There’s even an “Emotion Sensor” that “comes to life and changes based on your diary entry” what ever that means. The website isn’t entirely clear, but it sounds, er, interesting.
