Robot Hero?
High-scores are like hits for junkies: once you get to the next level, you just keep on chasing that rainbow. How do you remedy this condition, rehab perhaps? Nope, good old robotics should do the trick. Four undergrad students at Texas A&M have constructed a mechanized robot that is capable of playing with the best of us mushy humans. A converter translates on screen pixels in order to give the cues for notes and timing. SO how’s is scoring? Reports are that Slashbot is dialling in 90 percent accuracy on Expert and has yet to be defeated by a human opponent.
Stickies get dated with Quickies
Have you ever sat and stared at a sticky note an thought to yourself: this thing just doesn’t cut it any more? I mean, sure their portable, a must have in today’s market, but they don’t somehow interact with your cell phone, and really that’s all we should be concerned with. But don’t give up on those little yellow notes just yet. The girls and boys over at MIT have developed a sticky note that records your scribblings, including drawings, onto your PC in a digitized format. From there it’s just a matter of adding them to your Google Calendar, Facebook, or you cell as a text message. This truly is the future people; an entire world that works through your cell phone. It’s only a matter of time before we are dialling by blinking and texting directly to each others cerebral cortex!
But serious, this Quickies is really cool. Check out the link that includes a cool tech demo:
GTA IV: Leaked?
You take the most popular game of the year, perhaps even the past five (Halo series aside) and you hype up its release, shipping the game somewhat early so it’s well stocked for launching day and what do you get: a leaked version online a week before it goes retail.
But as deplorable as this is (don’t pirate, kids) let’s get some numbers: analysts predict that GTA:IV will sell…6 million copies in the opening week, generating an expected $200 million dollars. That’s absolutely staggering!
