- Netflix does it again, thanks to Microsoft
Now both PC and Mac users can watch movies
‘instantly’ from Netflix thanks to Bill and Co. and a little program called
Silverlight. Once Mac users download the MS product, users can head on over to
an opt-in page at the Netflix website, where a beta-testing is the name of the
game.
Last week it was revealed that Netflix
would be launching its HD streaming service via the upcoming Xbox update dubbed
the New Xbox Experience. Beta testing for select users for the NXE update began
last week and early impressions of the Netflix HD service were quite
favrouable.
- Fallout 3 Review Raves
If you’re a gamer right now, you’re either
broke, or about to be broke, as an onslaught of high-profile titles are making
their way to market. Between the sequel rush for critically acclaimed titles
(Far Cry 2, Gears of War 2, Resistance 2) and the brand-new titles (like Little
Big Planet) game aficionados are well on their way to personal financial
crisis. However, one of the highest profile games in a three-peeter. Fallout 3
came out last week and since then the rave reviews haven’t stopped pouring in.
It launched on 3 platforms; PC, Xbox 360,
and PS3 and Metacritic.com has them pegged at 94%, 92%, and 90% respectively.
Over 78 reviews comprise those assessments, and nearly each one makes use the
adjective ‘outstanding.’
- Christian Science Monitor makes the jump to
online exclusivity
In what might be the early beginnings of
the end for print culture, the Christian Science Monitor has announced that in
order to cut costs it will move towards publishing exclusively in an online
format beginning in April, with the sole exception being a weekend magazine.
The CSM currently publishes Monday through
Friday.
The move is said to be one that will be
“closely tracked” by the industry as tenuous holds on economic stability remain
unsolidified.
