Fancy yourself a film fanatic? Have no fear as the Box Office app is here, allowing users to quickly access movie showtimes sorted by name or even your location (via zipcode or GPS/celltower location). Best of all, sort by RottenTomatoes score to find the best bang for your buck. All ticket links send you directly to Fandango. Did I mention that it’s free? iTunes Remote I’m going to go out on a limb here and make the supposition that if your like me, a self-proclaimed technophile (that’s technophile), then your also a (self-proclaimed) sloth. Not lazy, no no, but you chose to preserve your energy. That’s what makes the free iTunes Remote app from Apple such a handy add-on. First off, the iPhone/iPod Touch already has a lot of your favourite things consolidated into one hand-held device such as music, videos, the internet (need I say more?) So in terms of needing to actually get up off the couch, few things are quite so important. But controlling iTunes may be one of those things. And if something is worth doing, Apple will do it right. This free app not only allows full control over iTunes, it also displays the album art of the music playing on your computer right on your iPhone or iPod Touch. The Remote app features five headings: Playlists, Artists, Albums, Search, and More. The first three are rather self explanatory but the search feature is live, thus displaying updated results after each letter is keyed in. The More section offers access to the rest of your library, such as audiobooks and music videos. All this and it’s just a click away. Well, since all you kids this days are crazy about checking out peoples faces, a FB app was sure to come along. This free iPhone/iPod Touch application offers basically the same functionality as the iPhone customized Facebook except now you can, uh, click directly to it from your home screen…pretty neat. From the app you can search your friends, chat through the Facebook chatting system, etc. But it’s free people!
AP Mobile News Network News junkies rejoice; headlining news, photos, and videos are now at your hand with the free AP Mobile News Network app. Browse through the day’s headlines in a streamlined, compact, portable fashion (not like that paper thingy with the news printed on it). Best of all, video links direct you straight to the source for easy ingestion. What do you think? |
