Every once in awhile a device comes along that is incredibly simple and yet so practical that you don’t know how you got along without it; the VT-100 fits that bill to the T. Touting a trifecta of useful functions, the VT-100 is capable of acting as a phone charger, data backup and an SD card reader! Oh, and in case that isn’t enough, it also functions as a battery back-up, not only for your phone but for you digital camera and portable media player (making it some sort of quad-fecta!) Now let’s slow this down a bit just to appreciate the gadgety goodness contained therein because this is one talented tool that needs your attention, and the price tag might surprise you.

If you have ever lost your cell phone or had it stole or dropped it into a lake as you stepped of that boat and had the dock shift on you at the last second then you know how frustrating it can be to lose your contact info and your pics from that hilarious drunken adventure. This is especially migraine-inducing if your phone doubles as your company rolodex, since your business is now in jeopardy. And so that’s what makes a device that back’s up your contact info not simply prudent, but downright necessary. The VT-100 takes care of all that whilst charging your phone.

But hang on folks, that’s not all. If you find yourself running low on power then just hook up the VT-100 to your cell phone for an extension on your battery life. This function works with PMPs and digital cameras as well. On top of all that, yes, beyond the phone charger, the data back-up, the power back-up, the VT-100 also acts as a SD/MMC reader!

As for specs, the VT-100 comes in an array of colours and supports most major cell phone brands including Nokia, Motorola, Blackberry, Samsung and Sony-Ericsson.

So what does this multi-talented, incredibly useful device set you back? Well, despite all its functionality the VT-100 will cost a measly $30. Which, quite frankly, is nearly half the cost I was expecting.
